Services Performed
- Failed due to permanent code P0455. EVAP monitor is also not complete.
- P0455
- EVAP System Leak Detected – Large Leak Fuel tank is too full to command the PCM to perform on-board gross leak test. Perform manual system tests with smoke/flow machine and scan tool output command functions. Confirmed the vent solenoid operation, clicks when commanded on and off. Connect smoke machine to purge hose at purge solenoid connection. Pressurize system and found zero leak indicated on flow gauge. Fuel tank pressure sensor responds correctly to pressure applied by tester and returns to ambient reading when vent is opened. Test the purge solenoid function and found no leakage, but when commanding flow/purge the solenoid stops flowing after 20-30 seconds and no vacuum passes. Solenoid can be tapped on and it will begin purging momentarily but stop again a few seconds later. This lack of consistent purge is being interpreted as a large leak due to the fuel tank not being able to reach the target vacuum for gross leak test satisfaction. Need to replace the purge solenoid. The vehicle will then need to be driven multiple days to enable the gross leak test to run on it's own three times without failure before the permanent code will auto-clear, at which point a smog re-test can be performed. Fuel tank level may need to be under 3/4 to enable the EVAP monitor.
- Large leak test ran and passed multiple times and perm code cleared. EVAP monitor not complete due to small leak test not yet run. This test will occur during an overnight cold soak. Able to smog at this time.
- Smog inspection – passed
- Certification fee
