Services Performed
- Confirm trace amounts of engine oil in radiator and more in coolant reservoir. Since the reservoir picks up at the very top of the radiator, and oil floats on water/coolant, more will end up in reservoir. The PCV elbow that sometimes cracks and leaks will usually allow coolant into oil if a mix occurs, as the oil in this part is not pressurized, but the coolant is. This part was replaced at other shop and looks good. Oil in coolant is typical from a head gasket issue on these engines and is VERY common. External oil leaks from cam carriers/timing cover seal area as well. Used emissions analyzer and found 240ppm HC in coolant tank and 180ppm in radiator. Advise engine removal and tear down to remove heads and have tested at machine shop. Cam carrier/timing cover leaks addressed in head labor.
