- Vehicle Speed Sensor "A" Circuit Vehicle speed on this model is calculated by the ABS module from all four wheel speed signals, then transmitted to the speedometer/cluster where the signal is modified then transmitted to all other modules such as the PCM. Speedometer/cluster faults are very common on these platforms, but the ABS communication code could indicate the issue is on the ABS side. The ABS module has a high voltage code set in history. When the module detects a voltage of over 17.4V it will shut down and store the code. This will stop the transmission of the speed signals to other modules, set U019 codes in those modules, AND set a P0500 code. Freeze frame data in PCM shows battery voltage of 18.19V at time of P0500. This high voltage is being read by more than one module, so it is very likely a true reading caused by alternator regulator failure.
