- Engine fault code P0420 catalyst efficiency low Bank 1 or single Bank At beginning of inspection the check engine light was off. Road test vehicle while monitoring pre and post Catalyst oxygen sensor values. Found the rear oxygen sensor switch rate is excessive indicating week catalytic converter. Fuel trim values were in normal range. During road test the check engine light came back on. Catalyst monitor completed and failed. Catalytic converter (front) needs to be replaced as well as both oxygen sensor to maintain efficiency. Sensor failure is common after removal and installation of used sensors. No technical service bulletins for campaigns found for this fault.
