At time of code scan and road test there were no malfunction messages on. Antilock Brake Faults: C0710
Steering Position Signal Plausibility Failure (Symptom 5A) U0100
Lost Communication with Engine Control Module Erratic (Symptom 7F) U0101
Lost Communication with Transmission Control Module Erratic (Symptom 7F) All three faults are history. No Comm codes in any other modules. No faults setting currently and no messages appearing on road test. There is a TSB for C0710 code with no "U" codes for connection issue at the steering position sensor. Examined the connector and found no issues. Unsure is comm faults and steering angle sensor fault is happening at the same time or not. Examined all ABS system connectors at the module and harness connectors that contain both the steering sensor circuit and the comm circuits (Connectors X100 and X101) and found no issues. There is a GPS device that uses the OBDII connector installed under the dash, but the unit was not plugged into the vehicle. These devices are known to sometimes cause issues with CAN networks and cause erroneous U-Codes. Advise at this time to leave the GPS unplugged, drive vehicle more and advise if message comes back and recheck which codes reset. Unable to duplicate fault at this time.

Code scan shows no engine or transmission faults. Road test. At first trans shifted normally, then as it warmed up the pump began to whine. Gear shifts started flaring, and reverse was lost completely. Trans then went basically into neutral and truck would not move until the trans cooled a bit. No fuel smell, but the transmission is smoking out of the breather tube and the smell is of burnt clutch. Fluid is full and badly burnt. Needs transmission replaced and programmed.
