EVAP System Leak Detection Reference Orifice High Flow Vehicle battery was charged fully, then sat overnight. Parasitic drain measures 13-20mA, in normal range. Battery tests good, but engine cranked a little slow in the AM. Charging voltage at battery is a little low, at 12.9V at idle with no loads on. Voltage at alternator is >14V. Confirmed headlights and dome lights flicker at idle, worse with more electrical loads on (heated seats, rear defroster). Checked voltage drop from alternator to positive battery terminal, found okay @ 100mv. Voltage drop from engine block to negative battery terminal fluctuates between 700-1800mV, and is over 2.5 volts when cranking, Trace to bad ground connection at the negative cable to body connection. Retaining nut slightly loose, and upon removal found underside of nut and terminal pitted and arced. Also terminal is very hot on thermal camera at idle. File the pitting off the nut, terminal and stud on the body and reassemble with a lock washer. Full load voltage drop is now a steady 250mV with all loads on, and charging voltage at battery is 14.1. Cranking speed now normal and lights not flickering. Most of the fault codes pulled at initial scan are due to low voltage. There are two EVAP system faults that need to be diagnosed separately if customer desires.

Torque Limitation Due To Fuel Pressure EPC light usually comes on right before check engine light. If fault goes away fast enough the CEL will never come on and EPC will go out. Right now there are no issues happening that are setting knock or fuel pressure faults. Found the engine oil is very low, NO OIL ON DIPSTICK. Engine knock may be from lack of oil. Also the fuel system is direct injected and uses an engine driven pump. Lack of oil may cause issues with fuel pump. Advise to preform LOF and road test more to see if any issues come up. No history of LOF here. There is a TSB for the engine knock codes and a reflash to address them, but nothing about fuel pressure related issues.
– Needs wiper blades – Spark plug gap at .42 (spec .27 – .31) – transmission fluid dirty/black – lights okay – alternator charging 14v – battery okay – air filter okay – belt okay – coolant okay – hoses okay – cabin filter okay – brakes front approx 40% remaining – Brakes rear approx 60% remaining
Change oil and filter. Replace with synthetic oil. Lube chassis, top off all fluid levels, adjust tire pressure. – Drained oil, only had 2 qts of oil in engine
Install wiper blades
SPARK PLUGS – Remove & Replace –
Replace transmission filter and renew fluid

Engine Control Module Read Trouble Codes – Intermittent Road test and could feel slight lack of power. Noted the boost pressure is slightly under the target pressure. First couple miles the engine ran okay, then began to misfire constantly. Data shows #1 misfire. Inspected #1 coil and plug, both look okay. All coils have been replaced at some point, #2 coil is a Denso, the rest are off-brand units. Swap #2&1 coils and recheck. Ran smooth at first, then started misfiring on #2 once hot. Recommend replace coils with good brand. When Engine is misfiring, and sometimes when running normally under acceleration, can hear a rattle noise. Pinpoint rattle to the turbo wastegate. Wastegate shaft in turbo and hole in arm is worn out causing the wastegate not to seal completely, causing some turbo pressure to bypass turbine and cause loss of power. Vehicle will need turbo replaced for boost code 00665/P0299.

Control Unit in Steering Wheel, No Communication Codes and symptoms indicate likely failure of the clockspring/contact coil assembly. Need to pull steering wheel and column covers to do testing to verify.
Remove and replace all 4 ignition coils
Alignment shop states after alignment now vehicle has slight pull left, also steering wheel is still off. Needs steering angle sensor diag causing problem
