ENGINE OIL & FILTER – INSPECT – [Check engine oil level and oil life percentage. Change engine oil and filter, if needed.] OIL LIFE MONITOR – RESET – [Reset the system at every oil and filter change. If the system is ever reset accidentally, the oil must be changed at 3000 miles since the last oil change. To reset the Engine Oil Life System: Display the OIL LIFE REMAINING on the Driver Information System (DIC). Press and hold SET/CLR for several seconds. The oil life will change to 100 percent. The oil life system can also be reset: Turn the ignition to ON/RUN with the engine off. Display the OIL LIFE REMAINING on the DIC. Fully press the accelerator pedal slowly three times within five seconds. If the display shows 100 percent, the system is reset. If the vehicle has a CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON message and it comes back on when the vehicle is started and/or the OIL LIFE REMAINING is near 0%, the engine oil life system has not been reset. Repeat the procedure.] TIRES – ROTATE – [Tires should be rotated every 7500 miles. Check tire pressure, damage and tread depth. Verify spare tire key lock operation and lubricate as needed.]
Change oil and filter. Replace with synthetic oil. Lube chassis, top off all fluid levels, adjust tire pressure.

P0300 misfire detected random P0121 throttle position sensor 1 performance P0521 engine oil pressure sensor performance Can feel engine misfire mostly at idle, and sometimes slightly under load. Misfire counters show number 1 misfire at idle. Inspect ignition system found number one spark plug insulator cracked and exposing most of the electrode. This will cause a misfire at idle. This concern is typically caused by oil consumption from piston rings. Oil gets on spark plug and causes temperature variance and ends up cracking the insulator. Advised to replace all spark plugs and monitor condition. Ultimately this vehicle will need an engine. NOTE: there is a technical service bulletin for oil consumption and spark plug problems on cylinders 1 and 7. This technical service bulletins talks about replacing the left valve cover with a revised piece as well as removing the oil pan to install a shield for the active fuel management relief valve then cleaning/un sticking the rings. On cast iron blocks, like this model has, it then says to perform an engine oil consumption test, then replace pistons and rings if necessary. We've done a couple of these Tech bulletins and replaced the valve cover and shield and it hasn't made a difference. They've all ended up needing lower-end work. Found a glitch in the throttle position sensor at a particular spot causing the code P0121. This is an intermittent fault. Needs replacement throttle body to fix this issue. Currently the oil pressure is normal. Freeze Frame data as well as customer's description of when the oil pressure went low shows that this happened at freeway speeds. Since the engine was at high RPM during failure suspect sensor issue. It's unlikely the oil pressure was actually low. There is also a filter underneath the oil pressure sensor that should be replaced. Advise to replace sending unit and filter. Due to location performing a manual oil pressure test is more expensive than just replacing the sensor. Advise to drain oil to proper level and also add seafoam 2 engine oil to possibly help free up piston rings. Then change oil in 500 miles.
